ISLAMABAD, Oct 12: Considering the emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad police have stepped up security and crime prevention measures across the federal capital, with senior officers inspecting checkpoints, reviewing patrolling arrangements and directing personnel to remain vigilant against criminal and suspicious activities.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Ali Waseem visited various duty points in the city and inspected security arrangements, checking procedures and the overall law and order situation.

He directed police personnel to remain alert and perform their duties professionally, stressing that all available resources should be utilised to protect the lives and property of citizens. He also called for effective checking of suspicious persons and vehicles and an immediate response to any unusual situation.

Meanwhile, SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza inspected security arrangements at the Red Zone and Zero Point checkpoints. He reviewed checking procedures and the performance of personnel deployed there.

The SSP directed officers to ensure effective checking of suspicious persons, vehicles and motorcycles and warned against negligence in security duties. He also stressed the need for courteous and responsible behaviour towards citizens.

Separately, DIG Waseem held an open court at his office where a large number of citizens presented their complaints. The DIG heard the grievances and issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers for their early resolution.

He said prompt and merit-based resolution of public complaints was among the top priorities of Islamabad Police. Citizens, he added, could attend the daily open court at the DIG office without any recommendation or reference.

In another meeting, SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza reviewed the security and crime situation with SP City Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf, SP Saddar Zone Kazim Naqvi, SDPOs and SHOs.

The meeting discussed measures to prevent crime, action against criminal elements, patrolling arrangements and the overall law and order situation.

The SSP directed officers to intensify action against criminals, strengthen the patrolling system and take all necessary measures to safeguard citizens and their property.
