Date:

Islamabad High Court has issued a detailed verdict declaring the appointment of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri as a judge illegal and unconstitutional. Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Azam Khan issued a 116-page verdict, the text of which states that Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri will immediately be considered dismissed from the post of High Court judge.

The ruling stated that at the time of his appointment, Justice Tariq Mehmood did not possess a valid law degree, and without a valid law degree, no person is eligible for enrollment as an advocate. The text further notes that due to the lack of eligibility as an advocate, the fundamental prerequisite for becoming a High Court judge was also not met. University records proved that Tariq Mehmood appeared for examinations under two different enrollment numbers and two different names.
