Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev has stated that if Pakistan makes a formal contact, Russia is ready to provide cheap oil, from which Pakistan can benefit in the current global situation. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, the Russian ambassador stated that, according to his information, Pakistan has not yet formally contacted Russia for the purchase of oil; however, if it does so, Russia will provide oil at a discounted price.
He emphasized that the energy sector is an important pillar of cooperation between Pakistan and Russia, and both countries can further improve it. Discussing the regional situation, Khorev said that Russia has had long-standing military and technical ties with Iran. Regarding the current tension, he stated that Iran’s retaliatory actions have been limited to targeting US military installations in the Gulf region, but the overall situation remains uncertain and complex.
The Russian ambassador also commented on recent military actions by US President Donald Trump, saying that the world is surprised by these actions and it is difficult to predict when and how the current conflict will end. He also strongly condemned an attack on a girls’ school in Iran, in which reportedly 170 girls were killed.
Khorev termed this incident unacceptable and appealed to all parties to refrain from using force and to resolve issues through political and diplomatic means in accordance with the United Nations Charter. The Russian ambassador further stated that the use of force against Iran by the US and Israel has further escalated tensions in the region. He also said that such actions are part of efforts to weaken Iran’s leadership and create division in the Muslim world
