The Israeli military has claimed to have martyred Alireza Tangsiri, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, in an airstrike, stating that he was responsible for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. According to international news agencies, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Alireza Tangsiri was directly involved in actions such as laying landmines in the Strait of Hormuz and halting the movement of commercial vessels.
He further stated that the operation was carried out late at night, resulting in the deaths of other high-ranking Iranian naval officers alongside Alireza Tangsiri, though he did not specify their names or exact number. Iran has not yet officially confirmed or denied Israel’s claim regarding the martyrdom of IRGC naval commander Alireza Tangsiri.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Alireza Tangsiri played a major role in the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and that his hands were stained with the blood of many people. He added that the killing of IRGC Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri is the latest example of close cooperation between Israel and the US, noting that the operation was conducted to achieve joint combat objectives with the United States.
Despite the US President’s backdoor ceasefire efforts, Prime Minister Netanyahu warned that the Israeli military will continue to target various sites in Iran with full force. It should be noted that since the joint US-Israel operations against Iran began on February 28, multiple high-ranking officials—including Ayatollah Khamenei, the head of the Revolutionary Guard, the Army Chief, the Defense Minister, and the Security Adviser—have been martyred.
